I’m super proud to be sharing this absolutely stunning wedding and it’s certainly one of my personal favourites. It’s classic, it’s timeless and I don’t ever think I’ll tire of looking at this one. I hope you feel the same…
Gemma and John’s wedding day was all about romance – beautiful, glorious, wonderful romance. The couple couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue either because Notley Abbey really is just made for weddings.
I first met Gemma about a year before her wedding day. She absolutely couldn’t wait to meet with me for her consultation to start planning her flowers. Gemma, you see, absolutely adores flowers and her chosen blooms were going to play a BIG part in her day.
Gemma opted for such elegant colours – a gentle palette of white, ivory and blush pink with just the tiniest hint of foliage to create a really romantic bouquet. I loved this bouquet as soon as I’d created it but when I saw it against Gemma’s dress – wow! Her gown was simply breathtaking and there really couldn’t have been a design that suited Gemma more perfectly.
The men in the wedding party wore really fantastic buttonholes that mixed on-trend succulents with a single miniature rose head. I bound these with twine to create a really natural look with a hint of texture.
Big, blousy blooms were definitely the order of the day and we used hydrangeas and roses to create that soft, romantic look that Gemma wanted. To add contrast, there was also plenty of clear, clean cut glass and this combination worked so well.
The ceremony was dressed with two large displays that mixed flowers with glass and these arrangements sat on clear plinths for a really sleek look. Cut glass vases were also scattered around the main house at Notley Abbey and a larger display formed a fabulous focal point during the dinner.
The tables were filled with collections of vases that brimmed over with beautiful blooms. We mixed these wedding flowers with tea lights for the most magical, romantic look.
Lastly, I can’t end this feature without mentioning Gemma and John’s altogether brilliant wedding photographer, the fabulous Faye Cornhill. I have to admit that I LOVE working with Faye because I know for sure that not only will she photograph my flowers beautifully but I can also be totally confident that the couple will receive the very best images from their wedding. As you can see, Faye’s work is simply outstanding.
